Children’s Fund (CF):
The purpose of this fund is to provide immediate relief as well as long-term empowerment to disadvantaged children in both Israel and the West Bank. It is our desire to provide such children with experiences and opportunities they might otherwise never enjoy.
To this extent, the Children’s Fund operates in a variety of ways: providing children from broken homes with the opportunity to engage in extra-curricular activities (such as dance classes, swimming lessons, summer camps, etc.); giving holiday gifts to Jewish and Arab children living in orphanages or from disadvantaged families; organizing field trips such as excursions to the Sea of Galilee, the Mediterranean beaches and Jerusalem’s Biblical Zoo. In many cases we provide funds for medical treatments (including surgery) not covered by the respective healthcare systems; and funds for general educational needs (such as books & supplies, transportation, clothes, etc.).
SOME OF THE MINISTRIES SUPPORTED BY THIS FUND
House of Light – The House of Light is a Christian charity for social aid based in the Galilee. It grew out of a “Good News Club” for children and youth held at the Barhoum family home in 1984. Today it has become a vibrant center for evangelism and counseling, focusing on broken families, troubled young women, children, and young drug addicts who seek help and rehabilitation. We at JCF have been happy to financially support many of their programs.
SOS Alumni – These adult orphans, having been brought up in the loving community of the SOS in Bethlehem, have to face making a place for themselves in a society that offers little opportunity and support for those without a family name and history. They are on their own at the age of eighteen, without recourse to financial support for education, training, or marriage. Recently some of them have joined together to form an organization that will in many ways provide the ‘family’ they need. Yet in addition to caring for each other’s needs, they have a strong desire to bless those around them, to help the needy and to take part in building up their society. Jerusalem Cornerstone Foundation has partnered with them during the formation of their organization and in their ministry to “at risk” families in Bethlehem. We value their integrated position which brings us into close contact with the needs of the Bethlehem community.
